TALES FROM THE BROWN DESK — SCHEDULE NOTICE: New Episodes Move to Monday Afternoons

Recorded: October 2, 2026 | Duration: ~2 minutes · A short notice, not a full episode
Speakers: Jake Rigney | Kassi Rigney | Teri Muehlhausen

[00:16 - 00:48] JAKE: It’s Friday afternoon, and we’ve locked the door, but not because we’re recording a podcast. We already did that today. But also because we’re moving our podcast to a new day. We’re changing things, we’re gonna record on Fridays, post on Mondays. Why you ask? Well, one, because this episode wasn’t done on time, and so we needed more time to finish it because Jake screwed up and didn’t record it properly. But also because it turns out that podcasts that post on Mondays get a lot more listeners and we like money.

[00:48] TERI: We do.

[00:50 - 01:05] JAKE: So, please excuse our non-Friday publishing. Don’t worry. Our new episode is in the can, properly recorded this time, and will be posted on Monday. What time, Teri?

[01:05] TERI: About 2.

[01:06 - 01:15] JAKE: Look out for more tales from the Brown Desk at 2 p.m. The 2 p.m. All the articles, 2 p.m.

[01:15] TERI: Eastern Standard Time.

The New Schedule: Monday Afternoons

[01:17 - 01:36] JAKE: Eastern Daylight Time.

[01:19] TERI: Thank you,

[01:20 - 01:36] JAKE: Teri. It is daylight savings time. Don’t want to confuse anyone. I don’t want people in Chicago tuning in at one because they know that Central Daylight Time is the same as Eastern Standard Time. Kassi is sitting there silently, staring at us like we’ve time zone nerds.

[01:36 - 01:44] KASSI: I’m not convinced anyone is gonna be sitting at their computer updating at 1 p.m. saying, where are they?

[01:44] TERI: Refresh.

[01:45 - 01:50] JAKE: Most of our no, most of the downloads come in like the first day.

[01:49] TERI: They do.

[01:50] JAKE: It’s Friday and Saturday.

[01:51 - 01:57] KASSI: If you uh are really in need, we’ve got a backlog of 20 episodes.

[01:57 - 02:10] JAKE: Yeah, season one. From six years ago. Yeah, enjoy 26 to 25 episodes. Um, so anyway, we will be back. You will hear from us on Monday. Thank you. Sorry. Goodbye.

[02:10] TERI: Bye.

[02:11] JAKE: Bye.

So that’s the whole announcement: starting this month, Tales from the Brown Desk is recorded on Fridays and posted on Monday afternoons at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. The first Monday drop lands October 5, 2026. If you’re in Central Time, that’s 1 p.m. CDT — so don’t refresh your browser at one and call us missing. The next real episode is already in the can and properly recorded; this one is just the housekeeping.
